All About Me: Mrs. Harvey Smith
6th Grade Teacher
|
Dear 6th Grade Families,
Welcome to 6th grade! My name is Mrs. Smith and I am delighted to teach your child this year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I have lived in St. Louis all of my life. I attended the University Of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) where I received Bachelors Degree in 2008 in Elementary Education and my Masters Degree in 2013 in reading. My goal is to help your children develop problem-solving skills that will be used to gain an informed understanding in all core subject areas. This is my first year teaching in Jennings School District; however I have been teaching elementary education for seven years. In my teaching career I have been nominated for and won several prestigious awards including Teacher of The Year and the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. I am very excited to spend my seventh year of teaching with you and your child. I've been married for ten years to my wonderful husband, Earl. We have five children four boys, and one girl and several pets in our family. Our animal children include 2 bearded dragons, Leo and Theo, and two dogs Chochi and Bubba. As a teacher I have developed a love for books. I like to read out loud to the class and to bring in lots of library books for us to read and look at. We are going to have a lot of fun learning in sixth grade this year! If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. Mrs. Harvey-Smith
